Seasons of the Earth Year Round Calendar

Throughout time, these seasonal festivals and holy days (holidays) have been celebrated by many cultures and called by many names. The turning of the wheel is our circular journey around the sun. At any point on the wheel, the cycle ends and begins again.

The wheel of the year is a foundational subject on this website, just as the five sacred elements are. You can follow the tag for any of the eight festival names that come around again and again: Imbolc or Brigid, Vernal Equinox or Ostara, Beltane or May Day, Midsummer or Summer Solstice, Lammas or Lunasa, Samhain or Halloween, Yule or Christmas or Midwinter. You can find many, many posts about how I have celebrated them, in community and in solitude, as well as explorations of ways that other countries and cultures also mark them. The solar festivals on the wheel of the years are one of the most unifying themes of the peoples who live on this planet.
