Summer Solstice morning. I rise early to greet the sun on this longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. The sun in all its fiery glory is going to be sweltering today, so the early morning hours are especially sweet.
I go up to the studio early, which will be uninhabitable later today. The sunrise streams into my little bell tower, where my Arcosanti bell hangs with a long string. Its chime often means dinner time.
Making the morning rounds, it is still cool down by the shady creek, blue sky reflected in it quiet waters.
The girls are on their morning watch.
Morning reward for this early bird.
May the strengthening rays of the sun fill you this longest day. And may you let it burn away what you no longer need. Make physical space for the coming harvest; make psychic space for new beginnings and creative work to manifest.
A blessed midsummer day to all!
Happy Summer Solstice.
Those girls are beautiful….
Beautiful photo of the skylight — the light/shadow is lovely!
Your words and photos make me miss a more creative time/place in my life, but you also remind me that creativity and solace can be found in my own back yard – thank you for that 🙂
