    Yes, the poem is my own, inspired by both the weather and the painting I did on the blank journal page before I bound it. I have about four of these paintings scattered throughout the book for the coming year. However, the “This is my news” is taken from an old Anglo-Saxon poem which describes the weather and ends with this line, which is so evocative. And I was actually answering a friend in UK who asked for news of the California rainstorms. I’m glad so many of you seem to like it!
