New beginnings in the studio, after many weeks away from this favorite place of mine. This morning we had a break in the clouds and the sun streamed in the window, silhouetting my pens and brushes against a blank sheet of paper. It seemed auspicious for the new projects and books I have planned. Below is an image of the studio as I see it when I reach the top of the spiral staircase. Sometimes when I arrive I breathe deeply and say aloud “hello,” as if I’m seeing an old friend.
This is the result of my morning’s work, a lovely stack of signatures awaiting thread and a cover, to become my new journal for 2009. Alongside the signatures are the tools I love for this work: my scalpel for cutting paper, a Starrett straightedge to cut against (how much easier my life became when I discovered these two tools and got rid of my Exacto knives and cork-backed rulers forever), and my teflon bone folder from Volcano Arts, which feels wonderful in the hand.

Oh yeas Cari….. at least I know I’m not the only one to talk to my studio! lol. But my, my, how brave you are to put pictures on your blog….mine looks like a bomb has hit it! Happy New Year my friend, I hope 2009 is a good one for you.Love and bright blessings,Sue xxx
