A Shining May

May_gilded journal page_2011

A little gem from a past journal, this May entry catches the eye, as metal always does. I do love the word May, which can be a lovely woman’s name, a gracious way to say please, a branch of flowering hawthorne, the fifth month of our calendar year, or best of all, Beltane. And since the old holidays begin on the eve of the day, I’m posting my greeting for you early, for I plan to bring in the May away from the grid of cyber life.

There are many folks songs for this time of year, but The May Day Carol plays on loop in my ear. As with all folk tunes, there are many variations on lyrics, melody and tempo, and that is exactly why I love folk music. It’s all good.

Our song is done
We must be gone
We stay no longer here
We leave you with a sprout
That is well budded out
By the work of our lord’s hand.

May your May have a bit of shininess, something new-feeling for the bursting season that is Beltane.
